PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE by Marilyn Wood

2019 was another great year for our Chapter. Many thanks to you, our membership, for your support and participation. We also couldn’t have done it without the leadership from our past president, Michael Mayer,  our other officers and volunteers. Thank you all!

This past year we hosted the Joint CPCU/RIMS lunch in April. Our amazing speaker was Jason Venturella, President of Stealth Security Consulting and a member of the Franklin Park Police Force, who spoke on Active Shooters in the Workplace and Critical Response Plans.

We again held our Spring Social, which was a nice opportunity to interact with our fellow CPCUs. Please mark your calendars for May 5th this year when we will host it again at Southern Tier. First drink and appetizers are on the Chapter!

We hosted another successful Golf Outing at Meadowink. It is hard to believe that this year will be our 25th! We have set the date for August 14th and hope to see you there!

All Industry Day at the Rivers Casino had us discussing the timely topic of “Cannabis and Opioids Legal Liability in Society and in the  Workplace”.  Our topic was so well received that one of our speakers will be presenting at the Insurance Club’s I Day! Many thanks to George Krauss and Patty O’Brien who volunteered many hours with registration and CE filings. Also congratulations to our new designees - please be sure to reach out and welcome them to our Chapter!

We had great attendance for our December, 2019 Christmas Luncheon and Officer Installation. Because of this event, we were again able to provide a donation to the Greater Pittsburgh Area Food Bank, as our Chapter Good Works project. Thanks again to all who attended and helped contribute to this great event!

A schedule of this year’s events can be found within this Chaptergram and on our website.  One of the most important benefits of membership is the ability to network with your fellow CPCUs – please try to take advantage of it!

We have a great group of officers representing you this year. Don’t hesitate to call, email, or text us with your suggestions or opinions. We hope to hear from you and see you at our events and meetings!

Be on the lookout for our flyer for our March Ethics luncheon. We are sure you will find the meeting to be very informative!

Here’s to another successful year!

CHANGES IN STORE FOR ANNUAL MEETING by Sally Ann Krauss

There are a number of changes in store for this year’s CPCU Annual Meeting and Seminars, starting with the name of the event. Moving forward, the event will be known as:  In2Risk. This change was necessary to more accurately reflect that our industry is shifting from insurance to risk management.

The conference will be condensed from four days to three, taking place Thursday through Saturday, making it easier for you to continue your professional development without taking as much time away from your office or your family.

Sessions will include cutting edge, relevant technical and leadership content.
